Cartoonists with goatees??? Whatever in the world are you talking about??? 
I think ex-high school baseball coaches are in the same category too – I think booth are required to have goatees so hence the reason I have mine.

Although I will say, I prefer mine to be in the very short, just a stage above “five o’clock shadow”… otherwise, it gets really itchy and I start pulling and twisting it as if I’m trying to mold it like Rolly Fingers and his handlebar mustache. 

In fact, my current goatee length is due for another trim right now.
